Border Guards Bangladesh claims that early on Friday morning, in the neighbouring Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat, a 20-year-old Bangladeshi boy was shot and killed by what seems to be the Indian Border Security Force (BSF).

According to the upazila's Sreerampur union, Abul Kalam Daku, son of Apir Uddin of the Dangapara region, was the deceased.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and police claim that at around 11 p.m., a group of individuals, including youngsters, walked to the Indian border to transport livestock.

The BSF personnel shot, striking the suspected livestock traffickers from the border after seeing their presence. According to them, Kalam was seriously hurt.

He was thereafter taken by his accomplices to Patgram Upazila Health Complex, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Nurul Amin, In-Charge of the BGB-61 Jhalangi Camp, said they held a commander-level meeting with the BSF in this regard in the morning.

Patgram police station’s Officer-in-Charge Abu Sayeed confirmed that matter saying that the body was sent to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
