Dhaka, Jan 04 (V7N) — Sohel Taj, son of Bangladesh’s first Prime Minister Tajuddin Ahmed and former State Minister for Home Affairs, has once again stirred controversy with a Facebook post addressing internal disputes within the Awami League. Known for his candid remarks and dramatic exit from politics, Sohel Taj shared a new revelation on Friday, sparking widespread discussion.

In a post titled "Breaking Bones by Walking," Sohel recounted an incident following the death of former Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam. He claimed that Sheikh Hasina, then Awami League President and former Prime Minister, was displeased upon learning that three separate funeral prayers were planned for Syed Ashraf. Reportedly, she scolded General Secretary Obaidul Quader, asking, “What has become of him that he has to conduct three funerals?”

According to Sohel, Obaidul Quader responded sarcastically, saying that Syed Ashraf was popular among party leaders and activists, and their demands could not be ignored.

Sohel also addressed the controversial Shapla Chattar incident, where Hefazat-e-Islam protesters were dispersed in 2013. He claimed Syed Ashraf was unfairly blamed for the crackdown, asserting that “all decisions came from the very top.”

In a bold conclusion to his post, Sohel Taj criticized the current state of the Awami League, urging supporters of what he described as “brainwashed, ideology-deviating looters and murderers” to unfollow his page. He also called for self-awareness, repentance, and introspection among party members and supporters.

The post has drawn significant attention, reigniting discussions about Sohel Taj’s estranged relationship with the Awami League and his outspoken criticism of the party’s policies and practices.
