Barisal, Jan 21 (V7N) — Commenting that the "war is not over," Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Central Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has called for continued efforts to build a safe and humane Bangladesh. He urged party leaders and activists to deliver this message to every household in the country.

Speaking as the chief guest at a gathering of district and metropolitan Jamaat-e-Islami activists at Hemayet Uddin Eidgah in Barisal, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman emphasised the need for accountability and justice in the political landscape.

He stated, “Many people ask whether there will be fair elections and whether the Awami League will participate. Our position is clear—first, they must face the genocide trial and prove their innocence in court before returning to the elections.”

Dr. Rahman further criticised what he termed "political money-driven genocide" and assured that the people of Bangladesh would deliver justice. “No more extortionists or fascism will be allowed to return to this country,” he added.

The event, presided over by Metropolitan Jamaat Ameer Principal Zahir Uddir Muhammad Babar, also featured speeches by other central leaders.

Later in the afternoon, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman visited the Charmonai Darbar in Sadar Upazila and exchanged views with the Nayeb Ameer and Charmonai Pir of the Islamic Movement of Bangladesh. During the meeting, both leaders discussed the need for electoral reforms to ensure fair national elections.

The event marked a significant moment in Jamaat-e-Islami's ongoing political activities as the party pushes for systemic reforms and justice in Bangladesh.
