Dhaka, Feb 19 (V7N)— BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has strongly criticized any attempt to form a political party with government backing, warning that such efforts will not be accepted.

Speaking at a discussion event at the Krishibid Institution in Khamarbari, Dhaka, on Wednesday afternoon, he expressed concerns over recent developments in Bangladesh's political landscape. The event focused on the collection of new members, renewal forms for old members in four metropolitan cities, and the evolving nature of student politics in post-mass uprising Bangladesh.

Mirza Fakhrul pointed out that after the Awami League apologized to its advisors and hinted at participating in local elections, suspicions have emerged regarding the interim government’s intentions. He questioned whether the government was trying to rehabilitate "fascists" for its own benefit.

"If the BNP is once again subjected to political manipulation like during the 11th national election, we will fiercely resist," he warned. "If the interim government loses its neutrality, then the demand for another neutral government will arise."

During the discussion, Chhatra Dal leaders alleged that certain groups claiming to be anti-discrimination forces had been attacking Chhatra Dal members in various places, allegedly at the behest of a special faction. They also raised concerns about a new wave of fascism infiltrating educational institutions, with fugitive Awami League activists reportedly attempting to enter BNP-affiliated student bodies.

Mirza Fakhrul reiterated that public doubts about the interim government's handling of elections were growing. He questioned whether the administration was attempting to protect its own interests by reviving old political forces and warned that any such move would face strong resistance.

Calling for unity among BNP supporters, he urged everyone to remain vigilant against conspiracies and political manipulation in the current situation.
