Sylhet, Sep 25 (V7N) – Sarjis Alam, chief organizer of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) for the northern region, has warned that his party could take to the streets if the Election Commission (EC) issues what he termed an “unfair” decision denying the NCP the Lotus election symbol. He also alleged that the EC is being influenced by a particular political party.
Sarjis made the remarks while speaking to journalists during an organizational tour in Sylhet on Wednesday night. He said the NCP has repeatedly requested the Lotus symbol and will resist what it perceives as an unjust outcome.
On party alliances, Sarjis said talks on a possible merger with the People’s Rights Council are progressing positively but stressed that no final decision has been taken. He added that discussions are also ongoing with other pro-Bangladesh parties, including the AB Party.
At an earlier meeting in Sunamganj, Sarjis delivered a sharply worded critique of the Awami League, accusing it of crimes during the 2024 mass uprising and saying the party should be banned and tried.
