Dhaka, Oct 02 (V7N) – Journalists boycotted a press conference at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday morning after leaders and activists of the National Citizens Party (NCP) allegedly attacked members of the media.

The incident occurred around 9:45 am at the VIP gate of the airport, where a press briefing was being held on the return of Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus and his delegation from the United Nations General Assembly session.

During the briefing, Humayun Kabir, foreign affairs advisor to BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, was speaking to reporters. Kabir had accompanied the Chief Advisor on the US visit on behalf of the BNP.

However, the situation turned chaotic when NCP leaders and activists began shouting slogans while Kabir was speaking. Journalists present requested them to stop, but NCP activists reportedly insulted and attacked members of the press.

In protest against the misconduct, journalists boycotted the subsequent press conference of NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain and Senior Joint Member Secretary Tasnim Zara.
