Awami League issued organizational directives on Tuesday instructing party leaders, ministers, and lawmakers to abstain from meddling in the upazila parishad elections and refrain from activities that could compromise the neutrality of the upcoming polls.

Obaidul Quader, the General Secretary of Awami League and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, conveyed this directive in a statement distributed to the media.

Quader emphasized Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's commitment to collaborating with the Election Commission (EC) to ensure the upazila elections are conducted freely, fairly, and peacefully.

He stressed that the forthcoming upazila elections will reflect the opinions of the people, as voters will have the opportunity to cast their ballots without hindrance. Party leaders, ministers, and lawmakers have been instructed to avoid any interference that could undermine the neutrality of the elections.

Quader noted that the EC has announced the election schedule to be held in two phases, underscoring the importance of maintaining impartiality in the administration and law enforcement agencies.

Warning against illegal interference in the election process, the AL General Secretary affirmed that necessary actions would be taken against any individual attempting to disrupt the elections unlawfully.

He lauded the peaceful and neutral conduct of the 12th general elections on January 7, describing it as a significant milestone in the country's democratic journey.
