Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader stated that the government is closely observing ongoing protests by university teachers against a new pension scheme and students' anti-quota movement in government jobs.

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, mentioned this during a press briefing at the Secretariat in Dhaka. He explained that the quota issue stems from a court ruling, not a government decision, suggesting that a resolution should come through the judiciary.

He highlighted ongoing discussions with university teachers but could not confirm when a meeting would occur. Regarding the submission of wealth statements by government employees, he questioned the opposition to it, emphasizing the importance of transparency for those working honestly.
