Khagrachhari, Dec 19 (V7N) — At least 20 tourists were injured when a bus carrying passengers to Sajek Valley overturned in the Alutila rehabilitation area of Khagrachhari on Thursday morning.
The accident occurred as the bus, part of the Gomti Golden Express fleet, lost control while navigating the Alutila area. The vehicle was transporting 40 passengers, primarily teachers from various schools in Rajbari, as part of an online tour group.
Khagrachhari Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Abdul Baten Mridha confirmed the incident, stating that local residents, police, and fire service personnel promptly responded to rescue the injured.
The injured were rushed to Khagrachhari Modern Sadar Hospital. Dr. Md. Mir Mosharraf Hossain of the hospital reported that while most of the injured received first aid, three individuals remain in critical condition. He assured that the majority of the patients would recover and return home after treatment.
The tragic accident has cast a shadow over the journey to Sajek Valley, a popular tourist destination. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
