Rajshahi, Dec 23, (V7N) - A fire broke out at Taherpur Bazar in Rajshahi's Bagmara upazila on Sunday evening, destroying at least eight shops. The fire started around 5:30 pm at an oil shop and quickly spread to nearby establishments. According to Md. Ibrahim, In-charge of Bagmara Fire Service and Civil Defense, four fire engines from Bagmara and Durgapur Fire Stations responded and brought the blaze under control by 7:30 pm.
The fire completely destroyed a tanker truck and eight shops, including an oil depot, a food hotel, a grocery store, and a workshop. Fire officials believe the fire may have been caused by a cigarette while the tanker truck was unloading oil into barrels. Approximately 400 barrels of oil were burnt in the fire, though the total damage is still being assessed.
