Rupganj, Jan 17 (V7N) — A fire broke out at Al Raji Spinning Mill in the Korngop area of Tarabo Municipality, Rupganj Upazila, around 11 am on Saturday, injuring five factory workers who were trying to extinguish the flames.

Two units of the Kachpur Fire Service managed to bring the fire under control after two hours of effort.

The factory's general manager, Kazi Hasanul Karim, stated that the fire started suddenly while the factory was operational and spread rapidly, causing significant damage. The injured workers are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.

Kazi Hasanul Karim estimated the loss at around five crore taka, with damage to goods, including yarn and machinery.

Narayanganj Fire Service Deputy Director Abdullah Al Arefin said, "Preliminary investigations suggest the fire may have originated from an electrical short circuit. However, the full extent of the damage is yet to be determined."

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
