A head-on collision between a motorbike and a bus on the Dhaka-Barishal Highway in the Dakshin Bijoypur region of Gournadi upazila on Thursday night claimed the lives of two individuals, including a biker, according to police.

The motorcyclist's identity was not immediately known, however one of the fatalities was named as Yead Uddin Kamal, 35, son of Abul Kashem Farazi, who lived in Barishal City's ward No. 4 of the Muladi municipality.

The incident was verified by Golam Rasul Mollah, the officer in charge of the Gournadi Highway Police Station. He stated that the two people died instantly when the "Sakura Paribahan" bus headed for Dhaka and the Gournadi motorbike headed for Muladi crashed around 7:30 p.m.

The bus's driver and assistant were apprehended by the locals shortly after the collision and turned over to them, the police officer claimed.

The OC further stated that legal action will be taken against the accused.
