Narayanganj, Mar 20 (V7N) – A massive fire broke out at Green City Super Market, a tin-shed market in the Tarabo Bishwa Road area of Rupganj, late Wednesday night. The blaze gutted 19 shops, causing significant financial losses to traders.
According to Jahangir Alam, Station Officer of the Kachpur Fire Service, the fire originated at Hasan's scrap shop around 2:15 AM. It quickly spread to adjacent shops, fueling panic among traders and locals.
Upon receiving the emergency call, three units of the Kachpur Fire Service rushed to the scene and battled the flames for about an hour before bringing the fire under control.
The affected shop owners claim that the damage is extensive, though an official estimate of losses has yet to be determined. The cause of the fire remains uncertain, and authorities are expected to conduct an investigation.
This incident adds to growing concerns about fire safety in makeshift and tin-shed markets, where inadequate safety measures often lead to devastating consequences.
