Dhaka, May 04 (V7N) – A fire broke out at Sabbir Tower, a multi-storey building located in the Purana Paltan area of the capital, on Saturday evening. Fire service units successfully brought the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading further.
According to Anwarul Islam Dolon, officer of the media cell at the Fire Service Headquarters, the fire service received an emergency call at approximately 8:30 PM. “The first unit arrived at the scene within ten minutes,” he said. Ultimately, eight units were deployed to bring the fire under control.
Eyewitness videos shared on Facebook Live showed flames engulfing the top floors of the building.
The multi-purpose high-rise reportedly houses residential hotels on several floors, along with private offices.
As of now, the cause of the fire and the extent of damage remain unknown. No casualties have been reported in the initial assessment.
An investigation is expected to follow to determine the source of the fire and assess structural and property damage.
