Chittagong, Sep 06 (V7N) – At least two people died in a stampede during a procession organized to mark the holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi (PBUH) in Chittagong on Saturday. The incident occurred around 12:30 pm.
The deceased have been identified as Saiful Islam, 13, and Ayub Ali, 60. Sources said that the victims fell due to the intense heat during the procession and were subsequently trampled.
The procession began Saturday morning under the initiative of Anjuman-e-Rahmania Ahmadiyya Sunni Trust, starting from Alamgir Khankay-e-Qaderia Syedia Tayyabiya in Sholashar. It was led by Sajjadshin Pir Allama Syed Muhammad Sabir Shah of Sirikot in the court of Pakistan.
The procession route included Bibirhat, Muradpur, Sholashahar Gate No. 2, GEC intersection, and concluded at Jamia Ahmadiyya Sunni Alia Madrasa Maidan, where a mahfil and Zuhr prayers were held.
Authorities have urged participants to remain cautious during public gatherings, especially amid high temperatures.
