Dhaka, Sep 19 (V7N) – Four members of the same family sustained severe burns after an air conditioning (AC) unit exploded at their residence in Jatrabari early Friday morning. They are currently undergoing treatment at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

The incident occurred around 1:30 am on the 7th floor of a building adjacent to the Lichubagan Mosque in Dhalpur, Boubazar.

The injured were identified as Md. Tuhin Hossain (38), his wife Iba Akhter (30), and their two sons, Tauhid (7) and Tanvir (9). Tuhin, a mobile servicing shop worker at Motaleb Plaza, hails from Sadar Upazila in Madaripur.

According to locals, the family was asleep when the AC suddenly exploded, sparking a fire that engulfed the room. Neighbors rushed to extinguish the flames and rescued the victims, who were immediately taken to the Burn Institute.

Doctors have described the condition of all four victims as critical.
