Satkhira, Sep 20 (V7N) – A fire broke out in the T-3 transformer of the Binerpota power grid in Satkhira on Saturday, leaving the entire district without electricity for two hours.
The incident occurred shortly after 11 am when all feeder lines from the Khulna grid were shut down. The Satkhira Fire Service brought the blaze under control within 20 minutes, and power was fully restored by 1 pm.
Sanat Kumar Ghosh, General Manager of Satkhira Palli Bidyut Samity, confirmed the fire and said that electricity supply has now returned to normal. Soyeb Hossain, Executive Engineer of Satkhira Ozopadiko, noted that the cause of the fire remains unclear, but any remaining affected areas will be restored shortly.
Nurul Islam, Warehouse Inspector of Satkhira Fire Service, added that preliminary assessments suggest the fire may have been caused by transformer overheating or an electrical short circuit.
