Faridpur, Apr 13 (V7N) – At least two people were killed and around 35 others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a pickup truck in Bhanga.

The accident occurred around 9:00 am on Monday on the Faridpur–Barisal highway at the Bablatla area.

According to police, a bus named “Shah Farid,” traveling from Faridpur to Madaripur, collided head-on with a goods-laden pickup coming from Tekerhat. After the collision, the bus lost control, veered off the road, and fell into a ditch about 40 feet deep.

One of the victims, identified as Jahangir Molla (40), a passenger of the pickup, died on the spot. He was a resident of Kaidubi Sadardi village under Bhanga Municipality. Another injured person later died on the way to the hospital.

Rescue teams from the fire service and highway police rushed to the scene and transported the injured to nearby hospitals. Several critically injured passengers were later shifted to facilities in Faridpur and Dhaka Medical College for advanced treatment.

Authorities said many of the injured suffered serious conditions, including fractures and head injuries.
