Khagrachhari, Sep 11 (V7N)- Five shops, including a medicine warehouse, were gutted in a massive fire in Manikchhari upazila of Khagrachhari early Friday morning.

The fire broke out around 4:00am on Friday (September 11) in the Mayurkhil area and quickly spread to nearby shops, according to local residents and affected traders.

Locals attempted to bring the blaze under control after noticing the fire, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Upon receiving the information, personnel from the Lakshmichhari Fire Service reached the scene at around 6:30am and brought the fire under control.

The fire destroyed the medicine warehouse and shop owned by Atuse Marma, as well as Remrachai Marma’s fertilizer and pesticide shop.

Two tea stalls owned by Sathowai Marma and Anggya Marma were also completely burned in the incident.

Affected traders suspect that the fire may have originated from a stove at one of the tea stalls beside the shop complex. However, the exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

The Fire Service estimated the total damage at approximately Tk 70 lakh. Medicines, fertilizers, pesticides, furniture and other goods were destroyed in the blaze.
