Madhabpur, Oct 03 (V7N) – Two houses belonging to brothers Zahir Mia Talukdar and Shipon Mia Talukdar were completely destroyed in a fire in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj on Friday, with the affected families estimating their losses at around Tk 50 lakh.
The fire broke out at around 4pm in the Kalikapur Barabari area of Baghasura Union. An electrical short circuit is suspected to have caused the fire, according to preliminary information.
Local residents and firefighters from the Madhabpur Fire Service reached the scene and brought the blaze under control. However, the fire had already spread rapidly, completely destroying the two houses before it could be extinguished.
Shipon Mia Talukdar, one of the affected residents, said they initially did not realise that a fire had broken out. By the time they noticed the flames spreading, it was too late to control the blaze.
“Our two houses were completely burned to ashes within a short time,” he said, adding that the damage was estimated at around Tk 50 lakh.
The two families are now facing severe hardship after losing their homes and belongings in the fire. They are living in difficult conditions following the destruction of their houses and household possessions.
