Barguna, Oct 30 (V7N) – The body of a fisherman who went missing after being electrocuted and falling into a canal while cleaning a fishing trawler was recovered in Patharghata, Barguna, on Thursday. Two other fishermen were injured in the incident.
The incident occurred at around 10am aboard the fishing trawler FB Sima-3, owned by Ansar Uddin Khan, in Badurtala Canal under Patharghata Sadar Union.
The deceased was identified as Delwar, 50, son of Md Zainal Khalifa, from Ward 7 of Char Monai village in Barishal Sadar upazila. The injured fishermen, Bachchu and Selim, are residents of Ward 6 of Patharghata municipality. They were admitted to Patharghata Upazila Health Complex.
According to local sources, the fishermen were cleaning the trawler using water pumped by an electric motor. Local diver Mojibor later recovered Delwar’s body from the canal after nearly an hour of searching, at around noon.
