On Wednesday January 17, near Paturia in the Manikganj district, a ferry on the Daulatdia-Paturia route overturned in the middle of the Padma River.The ferry named ‘Rajanigandha’ with pick-up trucks and covered vans sank in the river around 8:16 am, said Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector of Fire Service and Civil Defence.

According to Anwarul Islam (Fire Service and Civil Defence Inspector ), a ferry called ‘Rajanigandha’ carrying trucks and enclosed vans sank in the river at approximately 8:16 am.

Six persons were successfully rescued by local fire department divers who responded quickly to the scene.The cause of the Fery accident couldn't be immediately determined.
