In the Padua Nayapara region of the district's Lohagara upazila, on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar route, three motorcycle riders were struck and killed by a vehicle on Monday.

The victims were identified as Md Abser Hossain, 39, Md Jubaier, 25, and Md Jahed Alam, 28, who were from the district's Rangunia upazila and Lohagara upazila, respectively.

Officer-in-charge (OC) Khan Mohammad Erfan of the Dohazari Highway Police said to reporters that the motorbike riders suffered significant injuries after being knocked down by a speeding vehicle headed toward Chattogram.

After the police were notified, they raced to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where the attending physicians pronounced him deceased.

Although the truck was seized by the police, the driver was able to flee.
