On the way to Biswa Ijtemar from Narsingdi, 2 people were killed and 07 seriously injured when a cover van hit them
Two people were tragically killed and 7 seriously injured when a cover van ran over them while participating in the last prayer of Biswa Ijtema from Sadharchar in Shivpur, Narsingdi. The incident took place in Silmun area near Mir Bazar at around 6.30 am on February 4.
The deceased are Johnny (17), son of Monir Mia, a class 10 student of Dakshin Sadharchar village of Sadharchar union in Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi, Sohel (37), son of Kajal Mia of the same village.
The seriously injured are Firuz Mia (50), Zahirul Islam (52), Jisan (22), Nazrul (50), Zahid Hasan (25), Iqbal Hossain (55), Anisur Rahman (40) of Kazirhat village, Kalarua police station, Satkhira district.

A sub-inspector working in CID who is in charge of the security of Bishwa Ijtema said that my village is in Shibpur upazila. On hearing the news of the incident, I immediately went to the spot. Try to contact their family. Two people were killed in this incident, the injured were sent to different hospitals including Dhaka Medical College Hospital.According to local sources, in the early morning, to participate in the last prayer of Biswa Ijtema, a microbus left for Tongi in the same area from Shibpur's South Sadharchar village. On reaching Mir Bazar area, as the microbus could not move forward due to traffic jam, everyone got down from the car and took auto rickshaw towards Ijtema ground to participate in prayer. When the autorickshaw reached Silmun area, a cover van coming at reckless speed from the other direction rammed the autorickshaw, killing two people on the spot. At this time, 7 other people including the autorickshaw driver were seriously injured. The injured are undergoing treatment in various hospitals of Gazipur district including Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Confirming the matter, Gazipur GMP Tongi East Police Station Officer-in-Charge, OC Mostafizur Rahman said that the driver of the cover van is absconding, but the vehicle is detained. The details will be reported after the investigation.
