Dhaka, Oct 17 (V7N) – President Mohammed Shahabuddin has called on the global community to take action in resolving the ongoing Rohingya crisis. The president made this appeal on Thursday during meetings with non-resident ambassadors to Bangladesh from Belarus and Estonia, and the non-resident high commissioner of Uganda, according to a press release.

Ambassadors Mikhail Kasko of Belarus, Marje Luup of Estonia, and Ugandan High Commissioner Joyce Kakuramatsi Kikafunda visited Bangabhaban in the morning, where they were given a guard of honour before presenting their credentials to the president.

During the discussions, President Shahabuddin emphasized Bangladesh’s focus on strengthening ties with all nations, including Belarus, Estonia, and Uganda. He highlighted Bangladesh’s capability in producing internationally recognized goods such as readymade garments, pharmaceuticals, ceramics, and leather products, and encouraged the diplomats to explore importing these products from Bangladesh.

The president also reiterated the severe impact of the Rohingya crisis on Bangladesh’s economy and environment, urging international support for the safe and dignified repatriation of the displaced Rohingya community.

In response, the diplomats expressed a shared interest in fostering trade and investment partnerships between their countries and Bangladesh, and in working toward a better future for both regions.
