Dhaka, Oct 29 (V7N)– Bangladesh has climbed to 13th place among the top countries sending students to institutions in the United States, with the number of Bangladeshi students increasing more than three and a half times over the past decade. Recent statistics reveal a jump from 3,828 students in the 2012-2013 academic year to 13,563 students in 2022-2023.

The growing presence of Bangladeshi students in the U.S. was highlighted during the inauguration of a college fair at the EMK Center in Gulshan, where Scott Hartman, Public Engagement Director at the U.S. Embassy, spoke about their impactful contributions to American campuses. Hartman emphasized that Bangladeshi students are actively engaging in various extracurricular activities, including leadership roles, sports, performing arts, hackathons, and debates, equipping themselves for future successes.

“Whether innovating in research or building cultural connections, Bangladeshi students are leaving a lasting impact on U.S. campuses,” Hartman stated.

The college fair was organized through the official Education USA platform of the U.S. Embassy in collaboration with EdPrograms, drawing over 500 participants from various parts of Dhaka. This event not only showcases the educational opportunities available in the U.S. but also reflects the increasing aspirations of Bangladeshi students to pursue higher education abroad.
