Dhaka, Nov 12 (V7N) — Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam has formally requested the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to take action in issuing Interpol red notices for the arrest of several fugitive leaders abroad, including deposed former Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina. This development was reported by the International Criminal Tribunal's prosecution agency on Tuesday.

This action follows statements made on Sunday by legal adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul, who indicated that the government is pursuing red notices through Interpol to bring back Sheikh Hasina and other absconding accused in relation to alleged crimes of genocide and crimes against humanity from the July-August period.

On October 17, the International Criminal Tribunal issued arrest warrants against 46 individuals, accusing them of involvement in genocide and crimes against humanity. The warrants include prominent figures such as Sheikh Rehana, Obaidul Quader, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Anisul Haque, Dipu Moni, AKM Mozammel Haque, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Mohammad A Arafat, Sheikh Salim, Barrister Fazle Noor Tapas, Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash, former DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman, and several other former senior police officials.

Authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the timeline for executing the red notice or any further procedural details.
