Dhaka, Nov 19 (V7N) – Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed assured that no banks in the country would face closure, despite some continuing to struggle.
Speaking at a press conference organized by the Ministry of Finance at the Secretariat on Tuesday, Dr. Ahmed said, “Some banks are recovering, with Islami Bank, the largest bank, showing signs of improvement. However, while others may still face challenges, we will not shut down any bank.”
The adviser reiterated the government’s commitment to stabilizing the banking sector, acknowledging its ongoing challenges.
He also highlighted efforts to improve fiscal management, stating, “Measures are being taken to reduce government expenditure, but salaries and allowances for government officials will remain unaffected.”
Addressing the Annual Development Programme (ADP), Dr. Ahmed mentioned that projects deemed unnecessary or politically influenced are under review for potential adjustments.
