Dhaka, Dec 11 (V7N) – Mohammad Abdul Momen, the newly-appointed Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), announced today that the commission will start investigating allegations against the "big fish" immediately, as it is a public expectation.

Speaking to reporters at the ACC head office after assuming his role, Momen emphasized that addressing corruption was his top priority. "We will take immediate action in cases of corruption that have had a significant impact on the country and hold those responsible for these irregularities accountable," he said.

Momen acknowledged that while the ACC is part of society, corruption can sometimes occur in a corrupt environment. He urged journalists to investigate any complaints about him or the commission with impartiality.

The new ACC chairman also sought cooperation from the media to help disseminate accurate information to the public.

Momen, who previously served as a senior secretary to the government and worked on a contractual basis in the Ministry of Home Affairs, resigned from his previous position to take on his new role.

Meanwhile, Miah Mohammad Ali Akbar Azizi, one of the ACC Commissioners (Investigation), also assumed his post today, and Brig Gen (retd) Hafiz Ahsan Farid will join the commission on December 17.
