Chittagong, Dec 25 (V7N) — Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashir Uddin has announced plans for sector-wise reforms in all industrial sectors of Bangladesh to honour the martyrs who lost their lives during the July-August period. He made the declaration while addressing a view-sharing meeting titled "Bangladesh's Approach to a Developed Economic Context" at a hotel in Chittagong on Wednesday.

Speaking as the chief guest, Sheikh Bashir Uddin criticised the previous government's alleged alliance of corrupt politicians, bureaucrats, judges, and other forces. He highlighted the unprecedented number of murder case pardons granted by the president during that regime.

The event, organised by the Chittagong branch of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB), brought together policymakers and business leaders to discuss pressing economic challenges.

During the meeting, business leaders identified inflation control as the government's biggest challenge this year. They also demanded reforms and accountability for financial sector corruption and looting.

Prominent figures attending the meeting included Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Md. Selim Uddin, NBR Chairman Md. Abdur Rahman Khan, BSRM Group Chairman Ali Hossain Akbar Ali, and ICMAB President Mahatab Uddin Ahmed, who served as special guests.

The commerce advisor assured the participants of the government's commitment to comprehensive reforms, aiming to strengthen the country's economic stability and growth trajectory.
