Dhaka, Dec 28 (V7N)— Legal advisor Asif Nazrul assured that there has been no negligence in the trial of the July massacre. He made the remarks during a dialogue on enforced disappearances organised at the Krishibid Institute in Dhaka on Saturday morning, in the context of the upcoming Oikya Sanskrat elections.

Nazrul stated that despite starting from scratch at the tribunal, the trial process has been progressing rapidly, overcoming significant challenges. He emphasised that the trial is being conducted with utmost fairness to ensure its legitimacy and avoid any questions about the process.

"The trial will proceed in a rational and systematic manner to uphold justice for the genocide victims," he said, highlighting his primary responsibility as legal advisor to see the trial through to completion.

When questioned about the escape of individuals like Hasan Mahmud and Obaidul Quader, Nazrul redirected the query to the Home Ministry, calling for accountability. He added, "Our government's inability to arrest them is indeed a failure."

The July massacre trial remains a critical point of focus for ensuring justice and addressing past atrocities in the country.
