Rajbari, Jan 05 (V7N)— Inspired by the slogan "training is the best welfare," the Bangladesh Army conducted a comprehensive winter maneuver exercise, showcasing its readiness to defend the nation's sovereignty. Chief Advisor to the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, praised the military's skills and preparedness during his inspection of the exercise held in the Char Khapura and Char Ramnagar areas of the Rajbari Military Training Area (RMTA) on Sunday afternoon.
The 55th Infantry Division led the exercise, featuring battle-ready tanks, artillery, and other sophisticated weaponry. The simulated war scenario included the participation of commandos, various arms services, fighter jets from the Air Force, Army Aviation aircraft, helicopters, and para-commandos, demonstrating an integrated approach to modern warfare.
Dr. Muhammad Yunus, accompanied by Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman, observed the exercise for over an hour. Addressing the participants, he lauded the army's commitment to excellence through training and emphasised the importance of constant preparedness.
“We often see battles on screen or read about them in history. But what stands out is the courage and preparation that lead to victory. Today’s exercise has shown us that our armed forces are ready to face any challenge with confidence and skill,” said Dr. Yunus.
He added, “As a peace-loving person, I prefer peace exercises over war, but such training is essential to protect our independence and sovereignty. The professionalism and coordination displayed today are commendable and instill greater confidence in our army and air force.”
Integrated Forces: The exercise included collaboration between the Army, Navy, and Air Force, reflecting the importance of joint operations in modern warfare.
Advanced Weaponry: Sophisticated tanks, artillery, and aircraft showcased the military’s growing technological capabilities.
Leadership: Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman, Navy Chief Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, and Air Chief Marshal Hassan Mahmud Khan were present, emphasizing the strategic importance of the exercise.
Dr. Yunus arrived at the training ground by helicopter at 12:36 pm, where he was welcomed by senior military officials, including Major General J M Imdadul Islam, GOC of the 55th Infantry Division. After observing the exercise, he delivered a speech and shared lunch with the participants before departing for Dhaka at 2:47 pm.
In his concluding remarks, Dr. Yunus expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah and congratulated the participating soldiers for their dedication. He reaffirmed the interim government's commitment to enhancing the capabilities of the armed forces through modern and up-to-date training.
The winter maneuver exercise highlighted the Bangladesh Army's readiness to safeguard national sovereignty and underscored the importance of rigorous training in achieving operational excellence.
