Dhaka, Jan 9, (V7N) - The majority of the 267 candidates excluded from the 43rd Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) recruitment process are expected to regain their positions, according to Dr. Md Mokhlesur Rahman, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration.

Dr. Rahman confirmed after a meeting with affected candidates on Thursday that the investigation into their exclusion has been completed, and the government is now reevaluating their petitions. He expressed optimism about reinstating most of the excluded candidates, assuring that the process is being finalized promptly.

Additionally, Dr. Rahman revealed the government’s plan to introduce a dearness allowance for public officials and employees, including pensioners, a first-time inclusion. He highlighted that discussions are advancing under the Ministry of Finance, with significant progress made in two meetings.

The dearness allowance is expected to be incorporated into basic salaries during the next increment period, providing sustainable financial support. Dr. Rahman emphasized that this measure would ensure long-term relief for government employees and retirees.

Addressing the implementation timeline, he reassured that the allowance would be effective by the end of the fiscal year, potentially by June 30, 2025, or earlier. Financial advisors and the finance secretary are working on finalizing the specific percentages and implementation details.

The announcement brings hope to both the excluded 43rd BCS candidates and public employees awaiting financial reforms.
