Dhaka, Jan 15 (V7N) — Retired Lieutenant General Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, the Home Affairs Advisor, has announced that individuals involved in criminal activities and controversial roles during the Awami League government will be identified and arrested.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday after visiting the Ansar and VDP headquarters, the advisor revealed that police officers with documented controversial roles are being targeted. “Efforts are underway. Two individuals are being arrested daily,” he stated.
Referring to the arrest of individuals such as Matiur Rahman, linked to the infamous "goat case," Jahangir Alam Chowdhury emphasized, “He has not been caught yet, but others will also face justice. Many are in hiding, but they will be tracked down and arrested one by one.”
The advisor also addressed concerns about the controversial transfer and promotion of police officers with allegations against them. He assured that no one would be exempted if evidence is found during investigations.
He urged media outlets to provide their lists of controversial police officers to the Police Headquarters for further action, reiterating the government’s commitment to accountability and justice.
