Dhaka, Jan 15 (V7N) — Highlighting the importance of the recently submitted Reform Commission report, Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus described it as a "charter of mass uprising" aimed at creating a new Bangladesh through consensus. He stated that the proposed charter would serve as a foundation for future elections and governance, ensuring it remains a national commitment beyond political boundaries.
On Wednesday, the Constitutional Reform, Electoral System, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), and Police Reform Commissions submitted their reports to the Chief Advisor at his office in Tejgaon, Dhaka. Addressing the commission members, Dr. Yunus emphasised the historical significance of their work, calling it a transformative step for the nation.
Dr. Yunus remarked, "This is not just a report; it is a framework for the dream of forming a new Bangladesh. It is not the end but the beginning of a chapter." He urged the nation to unite around the charter, which he described as emerging from the people’s aspirations.
The Chief Advisor underscored that the charter is a collective vision, stating, "Elections will be part of this charter, and it will be a consensus election. This charter will remain as part of our history, a reflection of our national commitment."
Dr. Yunus praised the commission members for their efforts, stating, "You have prepared the groundwork for a national dialogue. Whether everyone agrees or not, this report will spark discussions about fulfilling our collective dreams." He stressed the importance of public ownership of the dream, saying, "This is not imposed from outside but arises from within our nation."
He also expressed hope that all political parties would endorse the charter, making it a shared commitment for the country's progress.
Calling the event a "historic moment," Dr. Yunus said, "This is far more than a formality. Today's event is part of history—a reflection of a ruined nation rising to reclaim its dignity." He assured that the reports would pave the way for future consensus-driven governance.
Dr. Yunus outlined the next steps, which include discussions to align the nation's dreams with the framework provided by the commission. He reiterated the need for rapid implementation of the charter, ensuring it becomes the foundation for future governments and elections.
"The dream and its journey have begun," Dr. Yunus concluded. "This charter will guide us in building the Bangladesh we all aspire to achieve, a nation united by shared goals and a collective commitment to progress."
