Dhaka, Jan 21, (V7N) – Bangladesh has expressed confidence that recent border issues with India will be resolved through dialogue under the framework of the existing Land Boundary Agreement between the two nations.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Bangladesh reaffirmed its commitment to resolving disputes peacefully, emphasizing constructive dialogue as the key to maintaining border peace.

The statement follows reports of a clash near the zero line at the Chouka border in Chapainawabganj, where three Bangladeshis were injured during a confrontation with Indian nationals on Saturday. The incident has reportedly heightened tensions in the region.

On January 7, tensions escalated when India’s Border Security Force (BSF) allegedly began constructing a barbed wire fence along the zero line of the Chouka border. The intervention of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) reportedly prevented further activity, but the situation remains delicate.

The MoFA stated that it has sought detailed reports from relevant ministries and agencies regarding the developments at the border. Bangladesh remains committed to addressing the issue diplomatically and maintaining peaceful bilateral relations with India.
