Dhaka, Feb 22 (V7N) – Power and Energy Advisor Faozul Kabir Khan has urged citizens to stop wasting electricity as the country grapples with an ongoing energy crisis. He emphasized the need to set air conditioner (AC) temperatures no lower than 25°C, stating that wearing suits in summer is unnecessary.

The advisor made these remarks at a workshop in Uttara, Dhaka, on Saturday (February 22) morning.

Drawing comparisons with Malaysia, where AC temperature regulations are in place to reduce carbon emissions, Faozul Kabir Khan stressed the need for behavioral changes to tackle the crisis.

He revealed that subsidies in the power sector amount to approximately Tk 42,000 crore, and despite IMF pressure, the government has not increased electricity prices this year, unlike previous years when price hikes were frequent.

Criticizing inefficiencies in Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL), he stated that the institution has failed to set clear targets and must shift its focus from seminars to fieldwork in project areas.

"The July Coup Was for Change"

Highlighting the need for greater institutional responsibility, Faozul Kabir Khan remarked that "The July coup did not happen to keep everything the same. We must overcome obstacles and work for progress."
