Dhaka, Feb 23 (V7N) – The Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, Md. Mokhles Ur Rahman, has announced that the vacant secretary positions in nine ministries will soon be filled. No appointments will be made on a contractual basis.
Speaking to journalists at the Secretariat on Sunday (February 23), he stated that new secretaries will be appointed from among competent and deserving officers who have been overlooked in previous promotions.
Screening of Former DCs Underway
Md. Mokhles Ur Rahman also addressed concerns regarding Deputy Commissioners (DCs) who served in the 14th and 18th elections under the Awami League government. He clarified that those who have been made OSDs (Officers on Special Duty) or have faced compulsory retirement are being investigated by intelligence agencies.
However, he assured that only those implicated in financial scandals will face legal action. The government, he emphasized, has not acted unfairly or with political bias, but rather in the interest of the state.
Decisions on OSDs and Retirements to Follow Legal Process
The advisory committee overseeing the matter will make final recommendations to the government regarding disciplinary actions against DCs involved in the 2024 elections. Decisions on OSD postings and compulsory retirements will be made based on the severity of the offense, ensuring that no individual is treated unfairly.
With these key bureaucratic appointments in process, the government aims to streamline administration and improve efficiency across ministries.
