Dhaka, Feb 24 (V7N) – Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus on Monday said the interim government is determined to further develop and strengthen local government institutions aimed at delivering full benefits of the July uprising to people.
“We are determined to further develop and strengthen local government institutions and to deliver full benefits of the July uprising to the people as they are our biggest asset,” the chief adviser said this in a message on the occasion of National Local Government Day on Tuesday.

“People must be engaged more with various development activities of the new Bangladesh, achieved at the cost of supreme sacrifice of the July uprising martyrs," he said.

Yunus extended his heartfelt greetings to all members of the Local Government Division, local government institutions and people of the country on the day.

“I firmly believe that by observing the day properly, new doors for people-friendly services will be opened,” he said.

Yunus said youths constitute a large portion of the stakeholders of the local government institutions.

"It is possible to build an enlightened nation through proper reflection of their hopes and aspirations in the multidimensional development and service-oriented activities of the local government institutions," he said.

The chief adviser said the government is committed to build a discrimination-free and corruption-free Bangladesh as dreamt by the people of Bangladesh through the July uprising.

“The role of the local government institutions to fulfil this commitment is immense,” he said hoping that observance of the day will further inspire everyone to build a new country with more determination.

The chief adviser wished all success of day’s programs.
