Dhaka, Feb 27 (V7N) – Former Information and Broadcasting Advisor Nahid Islam has publicly disclosed his financial details following his recent resignation.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday (February 26), Nahid Islam shared a detailed breakdown of his assets and bank transactions, addressing allegations of corruption that surfaced on social media after his resignation.
According to his statement:
- He did not own a bank account before joining as an advisor.
- On August 21, 2024, he opened an account with Sonali Bank to receive his honorarium.
- From August 21, 2024, to February 26, 2025, the account received ৳10,06,886 (10.07 lakh) and had withdrawals of ৳9,96,188 (9.96 lakh).
- He has no other bank accounts in Bangladesh.
- Neither he nor his family members (wife, parents) own any land or flats in Bangladesh.
- His Private Secretary has ৳36,028 in an Islami Bank Bangladesh account and has not acquired any assets during this period.
- He also stated that all financial records are transparent and can be verified in any government office under the Right to Information Act-2009.
Following his resignation on Tuesday (February 25), social media rumors alleged that he had amassed crores of taka through corruption in just six months. However, no evidence was provided to support these claims.
Nahid Islam’s resignation was submitted to Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus at State Guest House Jamuna. His asset disclosure now seeks to counter the allegations and ensure public transparency regarding his tenure.
