Dhaka, Mar 02 (V7N) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has conducted a raid at the cantonment residence of former Director General of the Directorate General of Defence Intelligence (DGFI), Lieutenant General Md. Saiful Alam, recovering Tk 2.45 crore in cash.
ACC Director General (Prevention) Md. Akhter Hossain confirmed the seizure during a media briefing on Sunday (March 2) afternoon.
Lt. Gen. Saiful Alam was sent on compulsory retirement by the Bangladesh Army on September 11, 2024. Following the student-public uprising, he was later assigned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On September 4, 2024, the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) ordered the freezing of his and his wife Lubna Afroz’s bank accounts, along with those of their children and associated businesses.
The ACC is now investigating the source of the seized cash and possible links to corruption and financial irregularities. Further legal actions are expected following the commission’s ongoing probe.
