Dhaka, Mar 13 (V7N) – The trial for the tragic case of child rape and abuse in Magura will commence within seven days, announced Law Advisor Professor Asif Nazrul at a press conference at the Secretariat Law Ministry on Thursday.

He stated that the postmortem of the victim has begun under special arrangements, and the report is expected within a week. "The victim’s body will be transported to Magura by helicopter, and Advisor Farida Akhtar will remain with the family until the burial," he added.

To address the growing concerns over crimes against women and children, the government is set to amend the Prevention of Violence Against Women and Children Act. The revised law will be issued as an ordinance by Sunday or Monday, aiming to enhance legal measures and expedite justice.

Furthermore, a special tribunal will be established to ensure swift trials in cases of child rape and abuse. Professor Nazrul emphasized that the government is committed to preventing such crimes and will not tolerate any disorder surrounding this issue.

This initiative marks a significant step toward strengthening legal protections and ensuring justice for victims of sexual violence in Bangladesh.
