Dhaka, Mar 29 (V7N) – In a seven-day nationwide operation, security forces have arrested 280 individuals involved in various crimes, including terrorism, extortion, robbery, drug trafficking, and arms smuggling. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the arrests in a press release issued on Friday.

The Bangladesh Army, in coordination with law enforcement agencies, conducted these joint operations from March 20 to March 26 in different parts of the country, including the capital, Dhaka. Authorities stated that the arrested individuals include listed criminals, extortionists, suspects in multiple cases, members of robbery and kidnapping gangs, juvenile gang members, drug traffickers, and those accused in the July murders. In addition, some were involved in producing and distributing adulterated food.

During the operations, security forces recovered a significant amount of illegal weapons and contraband. Among the seized items were 10 illegal firearms, 143 rounds of ammunition, and explosive devices such as cocktail bombs. Additionally, authorities confiscated large quantities of narcotics, domestic and foreign weapons used in criminal activities, and valuable stolen goods, including passports, mobile phones, SIM cards, tablets, and gold ornaments. Various vehicles, such as trawlers, motorcycles, trucks, dredgers, and dumpers, were also seized, as they were allegedly used in criminal activities.

The ISPR confirmed that all 280 individuals have been handed over to local police stations for further interrogation and legal proceedings. The Bangladesh Army reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order in the country, emphasizing its professionalism in tackling crime and ensuring public safety amid the current situation.
