Dhaka, Mar 30 (V7N) – Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated in various districts of Bangladesh today, March 30, in line with Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries. Thousands of people across multiple regions started their festivities by offering Eid prayers and embracing one another in celebration.
Laxmipur
Eid celebrations took place in 10 villages of Laxmipur, including Noagaon, Joypura, Bigha, Baro Gharia, Hotatia, Sharshoi, Kanchanpur, and Kalakopa. The main congregation was held at Khankaye Madania Kasemia Madrasa in Ramganj upazila at 7:30 AM, led by Maulana Mohammad Ruhul Amin. Residents said they have followed this tradition for 45 years as followers of Maulana Ishaq (RA).
Chapainawabganj
About 400 devotees from five villages in Chapainawabganj Sadar and Shibganj upazilas celebrated Eid. Major prayer congregations were held at:

Sonargaon, Narayanganj
Approximately 3,000 people in 23 villages celebrated Eid. The main prayer was held at 8 AM in the Jame Mosque of Girdain village, with additional prayers in Nayapur, Gonakbari, Konabari, and Kaltapara. Maulana Kamruzzaman led prayers in Nayapur, where 20 families have followed the tradition annually.
Chandpur
More than 50 villages in Chandpur observed Eid early, including at Sadra Darbar Sharif in Hajiganj Upazila. The first Eid Jamaat was held at Sadra Darbar Sharif ground at 9 AM, led by Pirzada Maulana Mufti Zakaria Chowdhury. The second Jamaat followed at Sadra Hamidiya Fazil Madrasa. Followers of Maulana Ishaq (RA) have observed this practice since 1928.
Rangabali, Patuakhali
Eid was celebrated in 9 villages, with prayers between 8 AM and 9 AM. Followers of the Qadria-Chishtia order from Chattogram's Chandanaish Jagiriya Shah Sufi Momtazia Darbar Sharif participated.
Bogra
Eid prayers were held in Gabtoli, Dhunat, and Sonatala upazilas, where 50 devotees, including women, participated in an early-morning congregation.
Gazipur
Eid prayers took place in Dagri Mosque (Mirzapur Union, Sadar Upazila) and Moktarpur Union, Kaliganj. Participants emphasized they follow moon sightings rather than aligning with Saudi Arabia.
Patuakhali
More than 500,000 people from 30 villages celebrated Eid. The main congregation was at Badarpur Darbar Sharif at 9 AM, led by Maulana Arif Billah Rabbani. The tradition has reportedly been followed for over 100 years.
Kalapara, Patuakhali
About five families from 10 villages participated in Eid prayers at Uttar Nishan Bariya Jahagiriya Shah Sufi Momtazia Darbar Sharif ground at 9 AM. They are followers of Allahabad Sufia and Chantupi in Chittagong.
Satkhira
Eid was celebrated in 20 villages. The main congregation was held at 8 AM at Bhadukhali Ahle Sunna Al Jamaat Jame Mosque, led by Maulana Habbur Rahman. Devotees expressed their belief in observing Eid alongside Muslims worldwide.
Sherpur
Eid prayers were held in seven villages between 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM, with 200–250 devotees per congregation. Women also participated, separated by curtains.
While official Eid celebrations in Bangladesh will take place on March 31, thousands of people across various districts observed the festival a day earlier, maintaining long-standing traditions aligned with Saudi Arabia and Middle Eastern countries.
