Dhaka, June 28 (V7N) — Faiz Ahmed Tayyab, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor, has expressed deep concern that the upcoming national elections could see the spread of the highest level of false information in Bangladesh’s history. He warned that such misinformation could originate from both party and candidate levels.
Tayyab made these remarks while speaking at a seminar organized by the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) on Saturday afternoon in the capital.
He noted that the public’s appetite for sensational and fabricated information often leads some media outlets to intentionally disseminate falsehoods for financial gain. “After August 5, we have seen a significant increase in the presence of the Awami League on social media. In contrast, the BNP’s presence has almost halved,” he claimed.
Tayyab stressed the importance of tackling misinformation through training programs, suggesting that IT department staff of political parties should also receive such training to ensure accountability and prevent the spread of false narratives.
