July 30 (v7n) - Bangladeshi workers will be able to travel to Malaysia for jobs across all sectors starting in the last week of August, following successful talks between the two countries, according to Prime Minister’s Adviser and spokesperson Mahdi Amin.
Speaking at a press conference at the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, alongside Labour Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury, Amin assured that the government is focused on ensuring a transparent and fair recruitment process—free from syndicates—so that workers can migrate safely and at a lower cost.
Priority for State Agency: The government-run BOESL will receive priority during the initial phase of hiring.
Agency Shortlisting: Malaysia will decide on the final number of recruiting agencies after reviewing a list of 423 submitted by Bangladesh, under the existing MoU which remains valid until December 2026. Bangladesh has confirmed that any agencies or individuals with past records of corruption or unethical practices will be kept out.
Crackdown on Offenders: The government has already revoked the licenses of recruiting agencies found guilty of previous irregularities.
Amin attributed the long halt in Malaysian recruitment to mismanagement under the previous administration, but noted that the current government’s diplomatic push has successfully reopened the door. He also advised prospective workers to stay patient, follow official channels, and avoid brokers and fraudulent syndicates.
