July 30 (v7n) - State Minister for Land and Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs, Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, has declared that the government will adopt a zero-tolerance stance against all forms of crime and extortion.
Speaking as the chief guest at a law and order meeting in Hathazari Upazila on Wednesday night, he emphasized that no one is above the law. "A person's identity will be determined by their deeds, not their political affiliation," he stated.
The minister reported that four people have already been arrested in connection with recent extortion cases, and assured that the remaining suspects will be caught soon.
He also voiced concern over individuals misusing political party names to commit crimes, warning that such offenders would face strict legal action. Law enforcement agencies have been directed to take appropriate measures against anyone trying to exploit party identities for unlawful activities.
Mir Helal added that he has stood by the people of Hathazari for the past 19 years and will continue to do so in the future.
Senior local administration officials, along with political leaders and activists, attended the meeting.
