Dhaka, Mar 30 (V7N) – The moon of Shawwal has been sighted in Bangladesh, confirming that the holy Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated tomorrow, Monday, March 31. This announcement was made during a meeting of the Moon Sighting and Review Committee held on Sunday evening, chaired by Religious Advisor Dr. A. F. M. Khalid Hossain.

After the meeting, Dr. Hossain confirmed that the moon of Shawwal had been sighted in the sky of the country, marking the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Eid celebrations.

President Md. Shahabuddin and Chief Advisor Dr. Mohammad Yunus have extended their heartfelt greetings and congratulations to the nation on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.

As is customary, the date of Eid is determined by the sighting of the moon and can change each year. This time, Eid will be celebrated after 29 fasts, as the moon of Shawwal was sighted on the evening of March 30.

Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated in several countries including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Turkey, Yemen, Palestine, and Sudan today, Sunday.

Eid-ul-Fitr is one of the most significant religious festivals for Muslims, celebrated on the 1st of Shawwal following the completion of the Ramadan fast.
