Dhaka, Mar 31 (V7N)- The main congregation of Eid-ul-Fitr was held at the National Eidgah Maidan in a solemn and festive atmosphere, with Chief Advisor to the Interim Government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, among the thousands who participated in the prayers.
The Eid congregation began at 8:30 AM on Monday, drawing worshippers from all walks of life. In attendance were members of the Advisory Council, Supreme Court and High Court judges, political leaders, senior government officials, and diplomats from various Muslim countries. The event symbolized national unity and the collective celebration of one of the most significant religious festivals in the Muslim calendar.
The prayer was led by Mufti Mohammad Abdul Malek, the Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, while Muazzin Muhammad Habibur Rahman of Baitul Mukarram recited the Azan and Quranic verses.
Following the Eid prayers, a special Munajat (supplication) was offered, seeking peace, prosperity, and well-being for the people of Bangladesh. Devotees raised their hands in prayer, asking for divine blessings and a brighter future for the nation.
This year, arrangements were made for 35,000 worshippers at the 25,400-square-meter main prayer area at the National Eidgah, with a separate section allocated for women. Despite the large turnout, the event proceeded smoothly with adequate security and logistical measures in place.
In addition to the National Eidgah, multiple Eid congregations took place across Dhaka, including five separate prayers at the National Mosque, Baitul Mukarram, scheduled at 7:00 AM, 8:00 AM, 9:00 AM, 10:00 AM, and 10:45 AM, as per the Islamic Foundation.
The Eid congregation at the National Eidgah once again highlighted the spirit of unity, devotion, and togetherness, as thousands came together to celebrate the festival in peace and harmony.
