Dhaka, Mar 31 (V7N)-  Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor to the interim government, has emphasized the need for stronger national unity to uphold the new Bangladesh that has emerged through the sacrifices of the younger generation. Speaking after Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at the National Eidgah in the capital, he urged citizens to maintain the spirit of togetherness despite challenges.

In his post-prayer address, Professor Yunus expressed deep respect for those who laid down their lives for the nation’s transformation. "I will pray for those who sacrificed their lives to build a new Bangladesh, and for those who lost their normal lives due to injuries," he said. He stressed that a permanent and united nation must be forged to fulfill their dreams, reaffirming his commitment to overcoming any obstacles in building a prosperous Bangladesh.

Extending his Eid greetings to people across the country and abroad, the Chief Advisor said, "Eid congregations are being held in every village, every market, every town, and every city in Bangladesh. On behalf of the nation, I wish everyone Eid Mubarak." He also acknowledged those unable to participate in Eid prayers—patients in hospitals, families at home, and expatriates—ensuring they were not forgotten in this moment of celebration.

Highlighting the essence of Eid as a festival of unity and love, Professor Yunus urged citizens to strengthen their bonds with one another. "Today is a day to build an unbreakable unity. We want to make this unity permanent," he declared. He also called on the nation to remember and pray for the departed souls who contributed to the country’s progress, as well as for those injured in past struggles to regain their normal lives.

Earlier in the morning, Professor Yunus performed the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at 8:30 AM at the National Eidgah. The congregation saw the participation of members of the interim government’s advisory council, Supreme Court and High Court judges, political leaders, senior government officials, diplomats, and thousands of worshippers from all backgrounds.

The prayer was led by Mufti Mohammad Abdul Malek, Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, with Muazzin Muhammad Habibur Rahman reciting from the Quran. After the prayers, a special Munajat (supplication) was held, seeking peace, happiness, and prosperity for the country, the nation, and the entire Muslim Ummah.

The Eid congregation at the National Eidgah stood as a testament to Bangladesh’s enduring commitment to peace, unity, and progress.
